“Hello, my name is Sherry, For three years, I suffered from sciatica due to lumbar spondylolisthesis causing spinal stenosis. The pain was so intense that it brought tears to my eyes, making walking unbearable. During this time, I underwent an abdominal procedure at Keck Hospital of USC. Encouraged by this experience, I sought to find an Orthopedic Spine Surgeon at USC. However, my primary care doctor referred me to Long Beach-Lakewood Orthopedic Institute, where I was introduced to Dr. Brandon A. Ortega. To my surprise, Dr. Ortega received his medical degree and orthopaedic surgical residency training from USC. Upon meeting Dr. Ortega, I found him to be professional, kind, and caring. Dr. Ortega immediately identified the problem and took the time to thoroughly explain how we were going to address it. His compassion throughout this process is what ultimately solidified my trust in him. Approximately four months ago, Dr. Ortega decompressed and stabilized my spine. After surgery, Dr. Ortega took great care of me in the hospital, demonstrating his dedication to not only his work, but more importantly, to his patients’ well-being. Following my surgery, I experienced minimal back pain, no leg pain, and regained the ability to stand upright and walk effortlessly. My life was restored, and my tears were a thing of the past.
